My Crochet Journey
So, I have been crocheting since I was 12 or 13 years old. I wasn't super interested in it at first, but at the time, my best friend Abby was making these little monster creatures. They were so cute and I admired her for making them. Shortly after I picked up my first hook and skein of yarn. I found a Youtube video and struggled through teaching myself how to crochet.
At first I made hats. Only hats. I made all of my friends beanies and shortly after I started selling them. I sold them to my teachers, and to my mom's friends for a while, but then I got caught up in other things as dumb teenagers do. Here is my first Ami piece I did for my mom, it's a little Groot!
Fast forward a few years and I dabbled in amigurumi, more hats, and I think I did a sweater that probably ended up at a Goodwill somewhere. Then I moved to Mississippi when I married my husband. I did a few projects here and there, but crocheting just wasn't on my priority list at the time.
Then, I got pregnant. I wanted to make things for my baby, so I did. I crocheted so many things in such a short time, and I loved it. Then I started working from home and spending more time with my baby, and crocheting. I kept going and selling small things on the side, and then in May of 2023 I launched Andie's Hook Up.
I have started small, but in a few short months I have gained a small following. Now I am just creating as much as I can. I want to share my talent and art with those who will love it just as much as I do. I am currently crocheting, rug tufting, painting, and so so much more. I love what I do and just hope that I can find and build a community of people who share this love I have.
I have said it before, but I consider myself truly blessed to be able to do what I love while hanging out with my toddler all day. Thank you, my followers, for making it possible!
