The Future of Andie's Hook Up
I never blog, but I want to start doing it more consistently. Maybe once a week? This week I want to use this space to provide updates and give a little back story to my business for those who have joined along the way!
Let's start with the beginning.
While I have been crocheting since I was 13, I only started Andie's Hook up in March of 2023. It was a side thing that didn't really gain a lot of traction at first, but ended up going semi viral in July of 2024. Since then my page and following across social media has grown to over 14,000 people. That is insane to me!
I have spent the last few years creating personalized plushies to those who wanted them, building my following, writing a pattern here and there, and taking on a few local crochet students. It has been such a blast.
I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to live out this journey and to share my passion all while being able to mind my kids and my home.
Where are we now?
Recently, I feel as though my business is on the edge of something big. I have been going about this without a plan, just crocheting and posting what I create. That was a great way to start, but it has been an aimless venture that, while fun, is not sustainable. So, I thought to myself: "What direction do I want to take this?"
Do I want to teach? Write patterns? Just crochet what I want?
The answer is yes. To all of it. I want to grow this thing I have made into something I can be proud of. Something that will teach others the craft, that will instill a passion in others to create their own masterpieces.
How do I plan to do that? I want to write pattern books. I want to build courses. I want to help other elevate their skills. I want to give others the tools to be confident in their work!
As many of you know I have already started with my first book!
The Book.
As I said, I am writing a book. My first book! I use the word first to indicate there will be more to come, but that isn't news if you've been paying attention ;-).
Working title 'A Day at the Zoo: What Puzzling Fun!' (I don't know about that though, so let me know what you think).
As of today, December 5th, 2025, I am just 3 unfinished projects away from giving it my full attention!
My plan is to remake and refine all of my existing patterns adding pictures and further explanations where I have received the most questions.
The Courses.
When I switch gears and start focusing solely on my patterns and getting them updated and into the book, I will not only be updating the individual patterns (the new versions will be sent out to past purchasers), I will also start offering a new pattern format!
While I am remaking all of my existing patterns, I will be recording the process and turning them into purchasable video patterns int he form of courses! I am very excited about this development and will expound on it more later. Just know I have heard the requests, and it is coming!
My hope is that these videos will allow those individuals who struggle to read written patterns to not only make my puzzle balls, but also develop the skills to read a written pattern. As a crafter I believe it is an essential skill in the crochet tool belt, but I know it is a skill, and not everyone has learned it yet.
Combining the two!
I have discovered that some parts of my patterns are just REALLY hard to explain in text. That is just a fact I have come to accept. So, in addition to pictures and added clarity to descriptions, I will also be providing QR codes to the book and individual patterns for some of the more advance techniques! These QR codes will link to private pages on my website that will only be accessible through scanning the code.
It is my goal to make my website the one stop shop for everything!
One more thing!
The last thing I want to say is THANK YOU!
Seriously thank you, for all the comments, shares, likes, and every other interaction we have had! I am so grateful for all of you! Without you Andie's Hook Up doesn't exist. I am constantly in awe and like I said, I consider myself incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to connect and share this beautiful craft with all of you!
